A growing manufacturing company in the Baltimore area is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support full-cycle payroll operations and ensure accurate, compliant processing across a multi-state workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 280+ employees using UKG, including bonuses, commissions, and profit-sharing batches.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including garnishments, loans, tax setups, and pay adjustments.
- Prepare payroll journal entries, payroll reports, and related payables; enter required data into Eclipse.
- Handle FSA postings, monthly/quarterly payroll analyses, and internal payroll audits.
- Review and reconcile tax reports, respond to payroll tax notices, and file required local and state tax forms.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and verification of tax IDs.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounts Payable on benefit invoices, new hires, terminations, and branch setups.
- Stay up to date on payroll laws and regulations impacting employee pay and taxes.
- Assist with additional accounting tasks such as reconciliations and account analyses.
- Work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations.
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
- Strong understanding of state and local withholding requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables.
- Highly detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and team-oriented.
- High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
- Background check and credit check required.
- Payroll certification required.
- UltiPro/UKG experience strongly preferred, particularly in report creation.
